Description of the Registration Process

Step 1: Understand ISO Standards

Before initiating the registration process, it’s essential to understand the requirements of the ISO standard that you wish to certify against. This involves studying the standard’s clauses, guidelines, and best practices.

Design and implement a management system that conforms with the requirements of your chosen ISO standard. This involves developing policies, processes, key performance indicators, procedures, and documentation to address the specific requirements of the standard.
Conduct an internal audit of the management system to assess its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. The internal audit helps evaluate your readiness for external assessment by a certification body.
Hold a management review meeting to review the results of the internal audit and assess the performance of the management system. Top management should ensure that any necessary corrective actions are taken to address identified nonconformities and system weaknesses.
After your ISO-based management system has completed its internal audit and management, and has operated for a minimum of three months, its time to select a Certification Body. It’s important to select a certification body that is accredited by a recognized accreditation body (AB) to ensure the credibility and validity of the certification. Please contact us to request an application for certification.
Submit the application for certification. The application includes information about the organization, such as scope of certification being requested, site location(s), employee count, industries served, product or service offerings, and other information required to to create a quote.
Upon acceptance of the BLISS CB quote, the Client is ready to proceed to the Stage 1 audit, which involves a review of your system documentation, policies, procedures, and processes to assess their conformity with the ISO standard. The intent of the Stage 1 audit is to determine an organization’s readiness for the Stage 2 audit.
The Stage 2 audit must be scheduled within 90 days of the Stage 1 audit. During this audit, the implementation and effectiveness of the organization’s management system is assessed. The various methods to assess conformity with ISO requirements include interviews, analysis of performance indicators and process data, observation of processes, and sampling of documents and records.
After completing the Stage 2 audit, we prepare an Audit Report detailing the findings, including any nonconformities identified. Based on the audit report, the auditor makes an initial recommendation for a certification decision, which may include granting certification, granting conditional certification pending corrective actions, or denying certification. At the conclusion of every audit, prior to a final certification decision, the audit report and conclusions, are sent to Technical Review to ensure that the Audit was conducted per the procedures and requirements of BLISS CB, applicable accreditation bodies), and per IAF (International Accreditation Forum) mandatory requirements.
If your organization successfully meets the requirements of the ISO standard and all nonconforming conditions are satisfactorily addressed through your organization’s corrective action process, BLISS CB LLC issues the client a digital and hard copy ISO certificate. The certificate includes information such as the site location(s) under certification, the scope of certification, validity period of the certification, and our accreditation details.
To maintain ISO certification, your organization undergoes periodic surveillance audits typically conducted by the same auditor or audit team that conducted the Initial audit. Surveillance audits verify the continued conformity and effectiveness of the management system and typically occur annually, or depending on the level of maturity of the Client management system, can occur at more frequent intervals such as every 6 or 9 months.

ISO certification is valid for three years, after which the organization must undergo a recertification audit to renew its certification. The recertification process involves a reassessment of the organization’s management system to ensure ongoing conformity and continual improvement of your organization’s ISO-based management system. By following these steps, an organization can successfully navigate the ISO registration process and achieve certification for its management system, demonstrating its commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, or other relevant aspects covered by the chosen ISO standard. What is the ISO 9001 Standard?

ISO 9001 provides internationally recognized criteria against which to assess your quality management system (QMS). The requirements are wide-ranging and designed to assure clients that you have in place an effective system to manage quality and conduct business accordingly. This is done through assessment of a range of factors, including customer focus, use of resources, commitment to quality, corrective action policies, and review and monitoring of areas such as orders, purchasing, product design and customer perceptions. It does not place specific requirements over your goods or services, but provides for consideration of the goals and policies of the organization. As a dynamic standard, ISO 9001 operates on a ‘continual improvement’ model, to ensure maintenance and improvement of your QMS. More information on the standard and its criteria can be found on the International Organization for Standardization’s website: http://www.iso.org.

What is the ISO 14001 Standard?

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized set of criteria used to assess the unique requirements of an environmental management system (EMS). It is based on the International Best Practice framework developed by the International Standards Organization and provides specific criteria for how environmental performance is managed without requiring a specific level of environmental performance. It is applied to the specific requirements of each company, taking into account the legal, regulatory and other requirements to which the company adheres. Importantly, it considers aspects of the environment that the organization itself recognizes as areas that it can control and influence. More information can be found in our brochure or on the International Organization for Standardization’s website: http://www.iso.org.
